I love this non-description of what is generally considered a “people search” engine masquerading as a social site. Mirror is a new form of web interaction. It is not a social network. It is not a review site. It is not an online dating site, nor is it a people search engine. However, it combines the functionality and benefits of all of these applications. Mirror is a way of sharing experiences, exploring relationships and connecting with others online. Mirror allows you to connect with people based on the qualities you value, for dating, social or professional purposes.

mirror profileSounds like a case of, “We couldn’t decide if we wanted to start a dating site, or a social network, or a LinkedIn clone, so we built all three into one un-definable site.”

Hmm, the “everything but the kitchen sink” concept, how novel.

I lost interest when I saw these two items in the FAQ:

1) The profile approval process takes 72 hours

2) They explain that Mirror is legal

It’s possibly illegal (why else mention that explicitly in the FAQ), and it doesn’t scale. Brilliant. No way I’m going to create a profile on there, who knows where my information will end up.
