For all the dimensions of compatibility, the press releases about big data, the tech meetups, big IT infrastructure, data centers, Hadoop, etc., you would think they spent a few days securing passwords. When I ran Profile Doctor we had better password security than eHarmony, thats not right. I wonder how the breach affected signups?
MyYearbook is now officially MeetMe, the new stock ticker is MEET. They made a video that has 260,000 views that takes the dating industry to task. Michael Rosenfeld (Stanford prof.) did a great study about online dating and analyzed the 1-year breakup rates of people who met online vs. offline. Take a look at page 44 of this link. It turns out that the 1-yr breakup rate among online daters isn’t higher than among people who meet offline… it’s actually slightly lower, although that difference probably isn’t significant.
