singlesquare iPhone ScreenshotA while back I took a look at SingleSquare, a free dating app that uses FourSquare technology to allow users to post “Sightings” of singles or post themselves as being single to particular places where they are located and can interact in real time.

Over the last few months SingleSquare has been busy redesigning the user interface and upgrading/adding features based on feedback they have received.

  • Users can send “Smiles” to other singles nearby they would like to flirt with.
  • Privacy Settings have been upgraded.  Users can now turn on and turn off the ability for people to send them “Smiles” or direct messages.
  • Users can post “Icebreaker Lines” that they think are good, then other users can rate them if they think they are funny or good.  Users can also add those “Icebreaker Lines” to their favorites, or use them to send others as an introduction.  The Icebreakers are also a fun feature that people can read, rate or add to even when they aren’t looking to meet new people.
  • In the grand tradition of Foursquare, users can win custom SingleSquare badges for sending messages and posting “Single Sightings”.

I love that SingleSquare works with Foursquare data, much like my favorite app these days, Assisted Serendipity.
