Spark Networks, which owns a cadre of dating sites, dominated by JDate, has made a big executive move. President & Chief Operating Officer, Greg Liberman, will be the new President & Chief Executive Officer. Adam Berger, who joined Spark as a board member in 2006 and then served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since 2007, has resigned his positions as CEO and Chairman, but will remain with Spark as a director.
I doubt having the COO run the company is going move the needle much. He’s been there all along, so what’s going to change?
Shareholders probably don’t care much who’s in charge, they want to see the stock do something. Although a number of them probably wanted to see Spark put some fresh perspective in place. The problems at Spark and how to fix them have been discussed exhaustively here, use the search box for more in-depth analysis.
Will Spark continue to engage in the depressingly-worded “managing the decline of the brands” or try something new to revitalize the company? We’ll check the stock price and quarterly financial report in a few months and see how Mr. Liberman performs.
Here’s the press release. Thanks to @DatingRev for the tip.
