The Economist has a great story on Meetic founder Marc Simoncini.
Quick hits:
Mr Simoncini had the idea for Meetic during dinner with three friends who had all recently divorced or separated. All griped about the romantic desert. Mr Simoncini decided to help them, and others like them, for a lark.
Last year he bought the European operations of Match.com
Marc is selling his shares in Meetic before the end of the year (valued at about €100m).
Interesting to see that Meetic Affinity has succeeded where Match Platinum has not.
Match and Meetic are working on several joint ventures, including a forray into Latin America.
Very smart gentleman not used to sitting on the sidelines, wonder what he will be up to in 2011.
