TangoWire, a community of 3,700 online dating sites, recently announced the addition of virtual dating to its network of services. According to the company, virtual dating allows individuals to meet each other in a virtual world before committing to that first real world date, getting to know the person behind the profile in an interactive environment that allows for a unique, interactive experience that goes far beyond chatting or instant messaging.
The service is provided by OmniDate. It’s nice to see OmniDate get a big win like this. What isn’t so nice is that they deactivated my account due to violations of it’s Terms of Service. I hope that was a mistake.
I asked TangoWire for clarification about the virtual dating schedule and offer because the press release was unclear about the details.
This Thursday April 8th we are opening up virtual dating to all members. How it works normally is Premium members on our network have the ablity to vDate ANY member and ANY time. Basic members (free members) can vDate only if ask by a premium they can not initiate a session. On Thursday – Free members will be able to initiate vDates with anyone across the site.
We have a number of different levels on subscription — sometime as lows as 99 cents for three days but typically it is a monthly 19.95/24.95 subscription.
Running 3,700 dating sites is insane. Talk about micro-niche markets.
