If you’re not aware of Comcastcares on Twitter, that’s what happens when someone deep within a big corporation gets a clue and starts Tweeting and quickly becomes a case study for using Twitter as an instantaneous customer service channel.
Match.com has 585 Twitter followers today and they seem to be doing a fair job dealing with customer service gripes while at the same time doling out dating advice.
I saw this tweet, which gave me pause:
The ProfilePro girl who helped me out was awesome! I hope my Matches don’t expect me to be as eloquent in person! ;)
I don’t like to read this sort of thing. The customer has a profile which they can’t live up to in real life. this is why having people over-write your profile is a bad thing.
I also don’t like how the Twitter person just tells people to call Customer Care to take care of problems. If the Twitter person at Match doesn’t have the authority to do anything on the spot, it’s not taking advantage of the power of the medium and basically not adding much value.
If you’re not on the list of dating sites using twitter, leave a comment to be added.
