I started this blog in November of 2002. Over the years I have spent the majority of my time writing longer posts, leaving other blogs like Online Personals Watch to compile a list of the news of the day.
I’ve had blogrolls, categories, tags, chat rooms, aggregated RSS feeds an a plethora of features, some which stick around, others I try for a bit and remove ’em if they don’t prove to be popular.
The one think that I’ve found most difficult is to quickly tag news items of interest and post them to the blog. There is only so much time in the day, after all. The more I blog, the less time I have for new business development and working with clients.
This week, I moved my 250 newsfeeds to Google Reader. I’ve only scratched the surface of what Reader can do in terms of condensing what used to be 30 minutes to 2 hours a day reading news. One of the key features I found is the ability to create a special public Reader page that contains a list of all the news in my Dating category.
The url for the public Dating feed is here. Over the next few weeks I will continue to refine the news displayed on this page. The idea is to create a single comprehensive source of online dating news. I might just link to the Reader page in the sidebar, shown below, or maybe I’ll just past it into a post once a day. Reader has a blogroll feature too. I may try to add that to the sidebar as well.
Let me know what you think about these new features, and just as importantly, what are your favorite sources for online dating news and information? As with each experiment, I strive to keep what works and get rid of what doesn’t, to avoid drowning in information and instead acting on it.
