The speed dating market continues to get serious about bringing people together via microphone and webcam.
SpeedDate.com, the world’s first online speed dating website, secured an exclusive license to U.S. Patent Number 7,203,674 covering key aspects of online speed dating. The agreement further solidifies SpeedDate.com’s position at the forefront of an online dating industry moving towards increased live interaction.

SpeedDate.com is also bringing speed dating to social platforms such as meebo. “SpeedDate.com is all about connecting people live, making it a natural partner for meebo. ? said Seth Sternberg, CEO of meebo.
SpeedDate.com has hosted over 100,000 online speed dates internationally since it launched in October 2007. In the coming months, SpeedDate.com will be hosting online events in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, and many other cities. The company is backed by Silicon Valley venture capital firm Menlo Ventures.
Well funded and a defensible patent. Not bad for a brand-new startup. All eyes should now turn to WooMe, who looks to be a viable competitor. I need to do a WooMe review soon.
