I just finished adding a new theme to my other blog, The Progress Bar, with a new template. TBP is where I write about Web 2.0, social media, identity, leading-edge internet marketing and other early-adopter topics that don’t quite fit into a blog about the online dating industry.
Online dating does have quite a number of parallels with the Internet movers and shakers current love affair with Web 2.0. Subscription and advertising-based revenue, targeted advertising, identity, safety, creating community (not quite yet), attention and search are all key features of online dating that have direct parallels to the evolution of the Internet, especially in the social networking industry, which by no mistake is where most of the money and innovation is happening.
