I love Valleywag for it’s snarkiness and anti-hype ethos. Case in point. Today, Riya, the much-hyped image search technology company, has finally launched a product. Valleywag says:
The image search site that was going to Change The World by searching images not through tags, but through analyzing the actual content of a photo? Well now you can use it to buy handbags.
Ouch! But seriously, where’s the visual-based people search? I want to be able to highlight J-Lo’s butt, Ashley Judd’s eyes and Scarlett Johansson’s… you get the, ahem, picture.
When can I Franken-morph them into a nice search results gallery page? Surely the hairstyle/length/color attributes at Match should do the job, natch.
I personally know someone who has a filter on her incoming email along the lines of “Deny all incoming email from men who do not like Princess Diana’s haircut or 1970’s shag do’s.” But she’ll respond to any email from women, regardless of hair preferences. People, online dating is about to get getting complicated again.
My question, dear readers, is which dating site will be the first to offer advanced image matching?
On a more personal note. I thought about draping the blog in total blackness today to commemorate K-Fed and Britney’s divorce filing. But I’m too tired from election night antics. Just kidding, I was at the symphony listening to the Beethoven/Shoenberg Cycle. Really.
