Relationship Exchange emailed their partners last week about a new service called MyDatingPro. RE partners have until April 7 to decline having MDP promoted to their members. Talk about a sketchy opt-out program, they are even making partners mail physical letters.

This latest innovation from the Relationship Exchange will revolutionize the dating industry by incorporating the benefits and value of offline and online dating services together. Through an exclusive partnership with one of the top leaders in offline dating, MyDatingPro will combine and offer new technology, personal coaching and a myriad of other services for your users. As a Partner of the RE, you will benefit from increased customer retention, higher conversion rates and improved lifetime values of your customer base.

MDP will offer advice and coaching on:

  • How to write a great description of themselves
  • How to express what kind of relationship they are looking for
  • Posting the best photos in order to attract the right person
  • Assisting with searches, matches, etc.
  • How to make contact and what to say / what not to say
  • Making the next step to set up a date
  • Dating feedback / follow-up

I am glad and a bit frustrated to finally see someone doing this. When I started ProfileDoctor three years ago, I talked to every major dating site, trying to get them to see the benefit of better profiles. We offered all of this, at a much better price point.

Nobody got it at the time, they were all too high on their growth curves. I tried to partner with various other value-added services, photos, coaching, etc. Nobody wanted to partner, everyone has dollar signs in their eyes and wanted to go it alone.

Three years later, companies are beginning to accept that bundling and partnerships with value-added providers are a cost-effective way to improve revenue, numbers and customer satisfaction. It took a growth plateau too bring the industry to this point, which is unfortunate. Maybe it’s time for me to retire ProfileDoctor and move on my The Next Big Idea.

Interestingly, I see that Relationship Exchange has announced the ability to segregate selected portions of its database in order to accommodate/integrate “niche dating sites. Similar to how Fastcupid operates.
