A little over a year ago Cardservice International decided to stop offering merchant accounts to dating sites. The change in terms of service came after Visa changed its regulations regarding online dating sites. Since January of 2004, dating websites have been required to register as a high-risk merchant with Visa at a cost over $1,000. The registration process takes 4-6 weeks on average. This effects more than just Cardservice International, many other payment processors are cracking down on dating sites and other high-rick merchants.
