It seems messmo, Brendan O’Kane’s mobile messaging company, has been busy beavering away in the past 6 months. They have an impressive lineup of 6 dating sites going live in the next few weeks with a mix of mobile Apps and SMS solutions. The first of the this recent batch, FreeDating.co.uk, is live already, running the messmo SMS AnyPhone Messaging System. This is ultra-cool, where you can follow a member (sort of like Twitter) and get SMS’s to your cell. The super smart bit is the SMS comes from an anonymous cell number for that member – you can save it in your contact list, and just hit reply. Send them a message from your cell any time, and no fiddly member id’s or names to remember. Here is what Dan Winchester, the CEO of FD has to say “I am seeing adoption growing at over 10% a week, and thousands more interactions each day between our members.”
Brendan says this is both a new revenue earner (I’ll pay to follow the girl of my dreams), and also because it works on every mobile its a great crossover product that gets all members on mobile now, enabling them to be migrated to smartphone solutions as they get the right handset.
