Wings, a funded startup that was originally going after the Facebook dating market, has announcing new features and a name change. Now a dating destination called DateBuzz, the service has some new features including:
- Full search functionality in addition to custom matches
- Detailed information on what any given user may like about you
- “Tailored-to-you” matches based on the pieces of profiles you find “dateworthy”
- The opportunity to give and receive comprehensive feedback based on what is “buzzworthy”
I’m somewhat confused at the direction DateBuzz is taking. After a year it feels like the service is taking a step back in terms of the design of the site, although the functionality and matching appears greatly improved. The problem remains, why would I use this site? There is absolutely nothing there that I can’t find on other dating sites. It was my impression that this would be more of a “run by Stanford business types and hard-core silicon valley geeks” kind of site, but thats not the vibe I’m getting in the least.
