There is a lot of talk about dating cards, like traditional business cards but tied into a pay-to-read system. Cheek’d is one, and while I love their copywriting, these cards are expensive and if you can’t just grab someone’s # and text them, well you have bigger problems. Yes there are privacy issues with giving out mobile number, but the answer is simple, and it’s called Bump.
Bump lets you physically knock two iPhones together and share contact information. Each person can choose which information to share, so there is no fear of sharing too much personal information. I have two bump cards, Bars and Business. I bump people constantly, and it just plain works. All the fuss of ordering, carrying around cards and the sadness that comes when you log into these systems only to find out that no one had contacted you after hading out 20 cards is just too much for me.
You can even Bump iPads.
Coming soon, a competitor to Bump, called, (lamely), Bump. It’s a new spin on the old idea of being able to send a message to someone via their license plate. I can’t tell you how many companies have tried to do this, maybe the copycat Bump will be able to pull it off. With so many states outlawing texting while driving, will this even be useful in a year or two? Just stay the hell off my bumper and focus on the road, thank you.
