The incongruity between Match and Singlesnet marketing is amazing. Look at this Facebook ad for OvernightMatch, which redirects to Singlesnet. “We lack men responding to their needs for attention.” Riiiight.
I’m testing the new SinglesNet Instant Messenger today. It’s a Mac program and not a Flash or Adobe Air product. Interesting choice.
Singlesnet IM Client is available to all members regardless of their membership level. The Singlesnet IM Client acts the same way as the website so while you may be able to use the IM Client if you are not a featured member you will not be able to message other non-featured members. You will still be able to enjoy the other great benefits of the IM Client however with Instant Mail Notifications on your desktop, messaging featured members, and keeping your profile status updated on the site while you are using the Singlesnet IM Client.
It drives me crazy when dating sites send me an email or alert stating I’ve received a message from someone, only to see that it’s just a one-to-one match created by the system. Disingenuous to say the least. Of course all of my Singlesnet “messages” are these type.
I spent some time in the Singlesnet forum as well. Amazing what some people think is appropriate public conversation. Wonder if Match is going to keep that forum live, seems more like a liability.
