Yesterday I spoke with Kate Brooks, the new Director of marketing communications for Zoosk. After we got off the phone I saw this ad on Facebook. Marketing gimick or could Zoosk actually be banned from Facebook?

A Spanish reader wrote in about this Zoosk ad currently running in Spain. supposedly the Spanish is “pretty lame” but I cannot testify to this. What was more interesting was hearing:

Given that it’s very hard to show a lady’s face (which facebook does rather insist on) and chest (which the advertiser wants) together in landscape, their workaround is just to cut the landscape in half to create portrait! I wonder what that does to their click-thru…

I’ve been helping pair up vendors with dating sites for a long time. Vendors often come to the table with an off-kilter pitch or want too much money for their services, and dating sites aren’t always able to see the value proposition of a third-party service, which is where I come into the picture.
It’s unfortunante that the dating market does not function in a way that companies like IntroAnalytics, HonestyOnline, DatingHeadshots and many of the other companies I’ve worked with are able to be acquired, instead fighting day in and out to partner with dating sites.
