Jon and Kate, stars of the scariest reality show I’ve ever seen, Jon And Kate Plus 8, are going to announce their divorce on television tonight. Folks, this is going to be some quality television.

I’ve watched more episodes than I care to admit, and given my exposure to the train wreck that is their lives, it’s no wonder they are calling it quits. I don’t know how either of them was able to keep it together so long, no wonder they have an open relationship.

They would have been perfect clients for Ashley Madison, but alas, that opportunity has passed. What dating site is going to sign up either of them as members? PerfectMatch seems the likely candidate, and I say that with respect, they really know how to do a promotion.

I sincerely hope that all dating site marketers at least considered the possibility of doing a deal with Jon and/or Kate. Their marriage implosion is going to fuel tabloids for months to come, an absolute gold-mine of free publicity. Filming Jon on dates and watching Kate dismiss suitors on Hulu or YouTube, now that would be must see tv.

Imagine dating site executives huddled around a big conference table reading the tabloids, “I want to know the minute the Duggar parents start to fall apart!”

My heart goes out to all the reality show mega-families, but seriously, know when to say no.
