I am hanging out at the Virtual Social Networking and Dating Conference. Today’s event is the pre-event for Social Networking Conference and associated Dating Conference happening in January in Miami. I just spent 30 minutes in the chat room, lot’s of good conversations and questions. If you are registered, visit my profile and add me as a contact.
10:27am: Home page needs a refresh every few minutes to display new messages and friend requests. Some images don’t show up in galleries. Chat room text limit is annoying, too small.
10:56: I’m adding a lot of people as contacts. What can I do with them after the event? Can I export to my address book? It would be great to be able to import into LinkedIn, where I have hundreds of other dating and social-related contacts. Having them silo’d in Pringle isn’t enough.
10:59: I’m missing a lot of good conversations in the chat room. Can I get a transcript?
11:45: number of attendees is between 30-40. West coasters are not in yet, EU is just finishing up there day. I expect the 12-2pm EST times to be when the most people log in.
11:56: Trying to send video message. It records, plays back, then the video window goes black and says I have recorded a 0 Megabyte file. I three a few videos greetings out there, we’ll see if it works.
1:23pm : 60 people online, I was right about the middle of the day being the busiest. some people have turned off Add to Contact option and left on guestbook. Why do that, or is it a configuration issue?
2:38: 84 people online. I missed a few chats, the window popped-up in background and I didn’t see it, bummer. Sorry, wasn’t ignoring you.
2:45: Deleted a mistake guestbook entry. Page doesn’t refresh to show it’s removed. 41 people in chat, about 5 actually chatting.

4:39: Discussing paywalls, Paywalls are tricky, too resrictive and you turn people off, no restrictive enough and you leave money on the table for serious users of your site.

5:24: Chat is starting to wind down, been at it for three hours, carpal tunnel setting in.
7:13: Unable to type anymore. Virtual event was a success. I met a lot of new people and reconnected with old friends and clients. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Miami in January.
