The dating site aggregator market continues to heat up. Copenda CEO Tal Cohen wrote in to let us know that his dating site startup will launch tomorrow, December 4.
Copenda is a revolutionary social people search engine that allows people to search for their soul mate or new friends in social networks and dating web sites. Our complex algorithms crawlsemi-structured data from multiple social networks and online dating sites.
Their reasoning for a dating and social networking profile aggregator is sound, I’ve talked to a handful of companies which have attempted something similar during the past several years but each and every company was missing at least one essential ingredient necessary to succeed in the online dating space: Strong leadership, funding, technology platform and access to dating site and social profiles.
The timing of the Copenda launch is remarkable, a deal is in play for a major dating site to allow itself to be crawled by a third party. Sorry I can’t say more about it but suffice to say that I was surprised to hear a paid dating site would open itself up like that. Pleasantly surprised that is. This is going to open up the market for dating/social aggregators, along with Google’s OpenSocial and other initiatives afoot which should make it easier to manage your online personas, which currently requires logging into every social and dating site you belong to when you want to update photos, bio information or preferences and interests.
Copenda will add key functionalities during the next several weeks that are currently not ready to the launch date:
- My Copenda – a private dashboard which aggregates user personal data.
- Ability to Claim a profile and get notification
- Users will save profiles as their favorite and track them
- Additional major site – we will add Facebook profiles to our search engine
- – we are currently indexing them.
- Online Chat
