I’ve received some general feedback from attendees of last week’s Internet Dating Conference, which took place in Shanghai, May 17-18, 2007. Here are photos from the event. I realize this isn’t much. If you were there, leave your thoughts on the event in the comments.

30 people attended.

Duane Dahl, founder of PerfectMatch was a no-show speaker. Anyone know what happened to him?

The first night’s late-night karaoke sounded like people had a great time. You know who you are.

Event food was great, amenities were nice.

Talks were redundant. Most suffered from Powerpoint-itis. Tiny type-filled pages that presenters read from verbatim.

Dr. Song Li was there. He runs Sinofriends, which is considered the largest and oldest dating site in China. As I understand it, he is also the guy who created SMS spam.

Best Buddies? was there checking out the Chinese gay market.

The Mergers & Acquisition panel focused on doing due diligence in China at much higher level. Major concern about lack of code of ethics and multiple sets of accounting books. Big problem is getting money out of china.

That’s it, add your thoughts in the comments.

The 3rd Annual San Francisco Internet Dating Conference is coming July 26-27, 2007   in San Francisco. The event will cover mobile technologies for the social networking and internet personals industry.
