It’s a busy week for the global dating industry. Lot’s of people are descending on a dating industry conference called iDate in Las Vegas today, with others opting to attend the Online Dating Summit in Miami. The Las Vegas event is the old established event. A few good sessions, the action is all in the hallways at by the pool.
This year I decided to attend and support Online Dating Summit. They’re the new show in town and it’s good to see them recognize that there is a need for some changes in how the industry gets together, networks, talks shop and does deals. I’m confident that ODS will bring it, and continue to improve as they continue to learn about what the dating industry wants to hear/discuss. We don’t get together often enough as it is and this is a great opportunity to network with dating industry CEO’s and key executives from POF, Match and many up-and-comers in the mobile, social and affiliate marketing sectors.
My Online Dating Summit keynote address is finished and I’m excited to give a fast-paced talk about the current state of the industry and 2013 trends like social, mobile, big data, fear factors, investing, location-based services, free vs. paid, video-dating and much more. I’m at 75+ slides and don’t want to melt too many brains the first day, but it’s my job to get people energized and excited for a great two days in Miami.
After sitting out here in the woods for a year blogging, I’m looking forward to getting some facetime with industry insiders. I have meeting scheduled with lots of people, the rest of you I’ll see in the hallways and the after-parties.
I’ll be liveblogging as much as possible, send me your press releases and announcements and I’ll push them out here.
