Last December Meetic, owned by Match, acquired Massive Media, which runs Twoo.com, for $25M cash. Twoo, a Badoo clone, had grown to 9.6M unique monthly visitors (source). I met some of the Twoo team in London last fall when I was in town to speak at the White Label Dating Partner conference. Interestingly, Twoo shares an office wall with Badoo in Soho.
While I was getting all primal in the jungle in Peru last month, Twoo acquired StepOut (used to be called Ignighter). StepOut is (was?) the fastest-growing dating site in India (TechStars 2008, $4.22M in venture capital raised to date).
So, Match owns Meetic which owns Twoo which owns StepOut which used to be called Ignighter.
Pretty soon we’ll start seeing larger dating sites start acquiring mobile-only dating apps. Which ones will get sold first?
Thanks to Pat for the pointer.
