In other OkCupid news, they are shutting down Tallygram on May 15. I liked the service for a few days, then got bored with it because the discovery and surfacing aspect was non-existant. A nicely designed site that nobody used because they put zero effort into marketing it.
OkCupid is focused 100% on getting people to answer questions. Same goes for their Combosaurus site, which asks you to do things like rate your Facebook likes. A neat idea for about 5 minutes (see above complaint about Tallygram), my main issue is that these types of services force us to answer a lot of questions and rate things, instead of going all Big Data on us, developing useful algorithms, and providing actual value without having to spend hours rating stuff. Data analytics on our social exhaust should be lean-back, not lean-forward.
