White Label Dating is now offering improved profile matching technology to all its partners and brands looking to build online dating sites, after signing a deal with IntroAnalytics. The technology partnership will dramatically increase the successful matching of member profiles based on implicit behaviour as they move around the site, rather than relying on the user’s preferences or questionnaires around who they want to meet – a first in the online dating industry.

I would like to see IntroAnalytics publish efficiency metrics. It’s the first third-party matching system I’ve seen in years, hopefully they will continue where WeAttract left off so many years ago.

The90daycontract.com: The vague and ambiguous nature of dating leads to a ton of problems and misunderstandings. The 90 Day contract is funny and unique approach to dating that changes the way we interact and creates an opportunity to succeed in a relationship or amicably move on without frustration or guilt.

PlentyOfFish has been doing that since years.

It is not a matching system, it is only a recommendation engine.
In a previous interview at OnlinePersonalsWatch, last April 11 2009, Mr. Potter had said about that recommendation engine:
“attractiveness appears to be the most important characteristic regardless of the information provided”

WeAttract dissapeared because it was a hoax.

Aaah – a discussion about matching, there must be a comment from Fernando!!

Tom Potter’s comment is correct – whatever new thing the industry wants to sell the consumer, I challenge you to find any genuine singles who don’t base most of their initial first dates on:

1. Am I attracted to this person?
2. Are they close enough to meet with me?

The fact is any questionnaire-based matching system relies on a key fact – that users are being honest. I may say that I like tall, intelligent brunettes but if I’m always viewing, winking and sending messages to short, bubbly blondes then will I want to see more short blondes or tall brunettes?

Our implementation with IntroAnalytics focusses on actual user behaviour rather than what they say – and it’s proving very interesting indeed.

Ross, agree with your points and eager to hear your results with the system.

Years ago there was a study where people were asked about their preferred type (paraphrasing here). Answers like “tall rich thin sexy people” were common.

Then they were given another test, which refined their responses and got down to what they really wanted, “similar social status, views on money, politics, etc.”

30 days later they were given the first test again, and the answers were back to tall rich sexy thin.

Many people don’t really know what they want, so how can they find it without the aid of compatibility algorithms?

These systems are part of the matching ecosystem, not the be-all-end-all solution.

In the end it’s the quality and type of people in the database that matters.
