Online Dating is a wide concept because it includes:

* Browsing/Searching Options, Powerful Searching Engines.
* Matching based on Self-Reported Data / Bidirectional Recommendation Engines.
* Compatibility Matching Algorithms.

The above papers you cite are only good for informative purposes and useless at all for innovating.

The Online Dating Industry has been adding more and more bells&whistles to marketing strategy since 1995. The 2009 showed big sites like Match, Chemistry, True, eHarmony, PerfectMatch and others have less traffic than 1 year ago or decaying in traffic.

Daters are getting tired of “automatic renewal” of their subscriptions and other “credit-card billing trickery”, tired of being the victims of those big “American” scammers.

Papers researching on Theories of Romantic Relationships Development with Commitment are the ones the Online Dating Industry needs to achieve innovation!
