Craigslist Dropping ‘Erotic Services’ Ads

by David Evans on May 13, 2009 in Uncategorized

Online classified ads service Craigslist will get rid of its “erotic services” category that critics called a front for prostitution, replacing it with an adult category that will be reviewed by Web site employees, state attorneys general announced Wednesday. Via AP.

From the Craigslist FAQ:

craigslist donates 100% of net revenue from “erotic services” ads to charity, while newspapers and yellow pages make a profitable business out of them.

Roughly one percent of ads posted on CL are in the ‘erotic services’ section. Believe me, there are plenty of other sites out there to pick up the slack. Scary that the Craigslist killer victimized that poor woman not to far from my home.

What we should look at are the prostitution laws and not websites that could be used for prostitution. Most crime attributed to prostitution is caused BY the laws to outlaw it.
