Singlesnet Low-Brow Dating Adverting

by David Evans on September 6, 2007 in Marketing

SinglesNet butt ad More proof that most high-volume dating sites are more interested in low-quality traffic than anything resembling a quality dating experience. Singlesnet has resorted to the ass-tastic ad campaigns that True and Mate1 originated on social networks over a year ago. What are the chances that the ad traffic is gender-targeted and women see a naked hunky guy?

You know what bothers me most? The lame Window 3.1 search interface they threw into the ad, looks like a beginner designer got too excited looking at clip art and got distracted. Then again, what do I know, I bet the link to Singlesnet in this post will be the number one outgoing link from here tomorrow.

That’s really unfortunate and certainly not very original… We just passed 1 million views of our videos on YouTube and we’re a tiny dating site…. I wish the big guys with the big budgets would do something creative and not resort to pathetic tactics like this…

If a site was truly great.. they wouldn’t have to spend any money advertising to begin with, it would come naturally. I know I delete every spam mail I get and refuse to ever visit whatever site spammed my email to begin with.. I think it’s a pathetic tactic no matter how the advertising is done on the internet!

I honnestly think that paying customers come from a god advertising and statistic agency.

Maybe there is still some money in it but that is mainly for the big boys from the beginning of the internet companies that have a lot of goodwill.

Singlesnet doesn’t think twice before using a trademarked keyword in their search listings.
I have requested numerous times for them to cease and desist using the keywords “looking for love” in their search engine listings, but they have not responded to my requests. Just because they are the “big boys” doesn’t mean they can disrespect the intellectual property rights of others.

Janet, is “looking for love” is trademarked? How can you trademark a common phrase related to dating?

We’d love to trademark “christian dating”, but if we got that, the entire trademark process would fall apart.

Singlesnet with very low traffic will lost it’s place as a general dating site. Nowadays, more and more people go to some specialist group with clear traget. Agelessfriends.com is one of those successful specialist site.

Singlesnet and match are loaded with phony ads, models, and hookers, not to mention that your profile stays forever to give the illusion of millions of members.

For how much singlesnet advertises, and all the great things you will get out of singlesnet… you end up paying for a myspace page, practicaly, id have a better chance finding someone on facebook or myspace for free, then someone on singlesnet. their search engine is Futile. Only search option is by zip, nothing like, near by, same town. or anything else. The database is small. and there is a small amount of match fields. when you tell them there needs to be more Search options. they never reply to emails…
