myspace friend listI logged into Myspace today and was greeted with multiple friend requests from too-good-to be-true women, all within two minutes of each other. That’s the first sign of spam, or is it that Myspace Friend Train I joined last year? Looks like it’s a relatively new variant of malware, at least that’s what Mashable says. Really nasty stuff, especially when you need to download it and install in the hopes of adding some fake 21 year old camgirl to your Friends list.

Do NOT dowload the MS Viewer or pass through verifyitplz.com. You have been warned.

I was going to mention pimping your Myspace profile with Fake Your Space, but the site appears to be gone. Myspace may be getting more traffic, but Facebook and Bebo seem to be the most popular alternatives.

Myspace sure leaves a nasty taste in my mouth after visiting. I won’t be on there much longer, nothing of value compared to other social nets, blogs and YouTube.

What he said. I am usually careful about downing loading unknown software, but MS Viewer looks like it is from Microsoft. I thought it was a Viewer from MS because there are Word, Excel, and Powerpoint Viewers. I opened the message at work and spent the rest of the day trying to remove all the crap that this malware lets in. I even got a full page pop-up of “The OJ Simpson Show”.
I concure with the writer above

I added the address to my host file and pointed it to the local host. No chance of downloading it now. I decided to check out some of the profiles too. Bypassed the crap on top of the pages. Very dissapointed not even an interesting photo to look at.
