It would also help a site stand out from another or should i say the 1000s of other as there is a dating site for just about everything now. Having been in the busiiness of promoting a variety of different sites for a very long time I can tell you though that the key to a successful site is directly related to the size of their membership database.

We totally agree! I think people are much more likely to use a cute little avatar on a dating network than video, which always comes out looking sketchy, forced, weird, etc. Who likes themselves on video? But, avatars can express someone’s hobbies, and show that they’re easygoing, friendly, and have a sense of humor. Anyone at IAC/Match listening? :)
