American Singles is introducing several enhancements to the site to bring it closer to par with the rest of the tier one players in the online dating industry. American Singles is a strange beast. Incredibly high CPA, exposure through maddening spyware and toolbar marketing and middle of the road demographic. I can imagine that the improvements will show up on other Spark Networks properties.
New look and feel, navigation, gallery photos and hot lists to start. “Click” feature is similar to Speed Dating, you only connect with a person if you both agree you want to.
Video Instant messaging and chat is new as well, from Userplane.
I wonder if this is this all to bolster investor confidence before the IPO or if it has been in the pipeline all along?

It’s been in the pipeline for a while. They already have these enhancements on some of their other properties and added them to Jdate a couple of weeks ago. Enhancements or not, American Singles is horrible.

Dating is really fun to do. It presents endless opportunities to meet people and be acquianted with seemingly interesting women. However, technology made dating more advance. Since the introduction of online dating, a lot of things have happened linked to it. Though good by its nature, it has its own problems and might even harm daters. This information is very helpful to prevent untoward incidents when dating online.

American Singles is good for people who like to throw their money into wishing wells but probably less effective.
Their email policy is a real rip off. Only premium members can send and read email. Nothing wrong with that except they won’t indicate who is a premium member so you don’t know if the person you send your email to can read it or not. Even if they are interested they have to become a premium member to respond. But, they have to do this without knowing who the email is from.
Other sites let a standard member reply to at least a limited number of emails. And based on the sites that do show who the premium members are, standard members out number premies 2 or 3 times.
I have 17 emails sitting in my inbox but can’t see who they are from. Most likely they are from women from China, the Phillipines, Africa, Russia, and Eastern Europe looking for a free ticket to the USA.
I wrote to Customer Service a number of times and never got more than the standard line of drivel about what you can do as a gold or silver member.
I’d suggest that investors think twice before handing their money over to these idiots, just like I am and probably lots of other potential premium members who have any sense.
