The domain names Meetpeople.com, singlewomen.com, singlemen.com, meetgirls.com and meetlocals.com are for sale as a group for $1 million dollars. I’m curious as to what you think the real value of these types of domain names is.

Dating market is already heavily covered. There’s always opportunity but, given the competition, the costs of successful entry are high. A nice website name is a + but not the key to success when you guage how much money will have to be spent to meet other needs. Better to spend that type of money on solid technology and viral marketing.

Those domains are worth a lot more than $1,000,000. I have generated thousands of dollars on single domains via type-in traffic. If these domains were marketed the results would be incredible. Let us not forget that would of cost AOL millions and millions more for consumers to learn AOL73905.com rather than AOL.com. Let’s not be nieve about real estate again.

More than a million? Don’t confuse AOL branding with meetgirls.com, two totally different levels off brand awareness at play. Date.com paid $40,000 for the domain a few years ago, that’s a much better number to base value on.

I think that domain names are only like phone numbers. Today a person does not need to remember the number, just only use the cell phone directory to locate it and then press a button.

If a phone number is more easy to remember than others does not matter, most persons have the number in the cell phone or PDA memory!!!

    Cordially,
