The New York Times has a nice piece,A L♥ng-Distance Affair, about how Skype has done more than just about anything else to positively influence long-distance relationships.

Many of us are spending more time videochatting with family, friends and clients on Skype. My cousins even think Instant messaging without video is strange.

Skype (or some other video service like Facetime) first dates are going to become more prevalent, its just going to take a while for people to be comfortable enough to videochat.

SpeedDate.com is a great service, but its still to difficult to use because who wants to be logged into a website all day waiting for someone to click on them?

Some company is going to get videodating right, we just haven’t seen the right blend of features, pricing and usability yet.

Gotta go, Skype is ringing.
