In a few hours I’ll trade rainy 50 degree Boston for 82 and overcast Miami. No iDate for me this year though. If you feel like taking a break from the conference, contact me and we can set up a time and place to meet on Wednesday or Thursday. Beach or hotel pool bar preferred. I love being in Miami in January, nice and warm, seeing old friends and meeting readers of this blog. Paradise for a few brief days before heading back to the Northeast.
Interesting how many people are trekking to Miami but not attending the conference. At least a dozen people I’ve talked to in the past week are doing this.
Don’t forget your sunscreen, swim trunks and flip-flops!

Dave, how can you be in the business of dating, when you aren’t attending *the* industry event?
Encouraging people to meet you outside of it is in poor taste, to put it mildly. Dating execs are in Miami *because* of Marc Lesnick and Mark Brooks going to all the time and effort (and finances) of organizing this.
I find it troubling that a major dating blogger would conduct himself this way.
Sure, it’s a free country and you can do whatever you want, but this doesn’t say much about your professionalism.
I’d like to connect with a few clients, friends and readers during a totally hectic work week in Miami. Not sure why that bothers you so much?
Umm, coincidentally the same time as iDate?
I don’t get why a major dating blogger isn’t attending the largest industry convention.
While I appreciate your concern about my attendance, it’s unwarranted. Big things beneficial to the online dating industry are happening this week that are keeping me busy. You sound grumpy, go for a swim!
Always interesting these “guest” posts – whoever would have enough passion for the organisers to write a post like that?
The value of events certainly isn’t paying for a ticket just to be pitched to the entire day – the value is networking, discussions and everything that happens around an event.
