Dating Sites and Haiti Relief, Missed Opportunity

by David Evans on January 23, 2010 in Uncategorized

header-donate-now.gifSurprising not to see a single dating site has put a Haiti relief button on the home page or announced any donations. Big lost opportunity to connect with visitors and members and do some social good at the same time. If you know a dating site which a links to Haiti Disaster relief, leave a comment and thanks for your effort.

While it’s a noble cause, I’ve got to be honest, it would feel fake. There’s only one dating site I know that was established with the concept of “giving” which is GiveandDate.com. Other than that, it would feel really fake and possibly insincere.

If the sites are going to do something like that, they should FIRST lead by making a donation and then offer a way for others to help, or offer a chance to match donations.

Just my two cents.

It’s not much but small Swedish dating site motesplatsen.se donated roughly 3500 dollars to Haiti charity.

Opps, the last comment submitted before I finished it.

Anyways, I notice Match.com also has a link to the Red Cross on their homepage. It is done tastefully and I don’t have any real problems with it since it is not over done.
