I got your non-DNA-based Scientific Matching System Right Here

by David Evans on December 7, 2009   in Personality Testing

Basisnote wrote in to say that their scientific compatibility system has recently launched on www.swissfriends.ch, a Swiss dating site. The Basisnote Chemistry-Check is not a DNA test, no sensitive data is collected, it costs about $50 and is simple to use. You can start matching 15 min once the test is shipped to your home, no need to mail the test back to a lab for processing.

I am checking out Swissfriends and waiting for my test to be mailed to me. In the meantime, you absolutely must watch this Swissfriends commercial, I lol’d watching the woman sniff her dates.

That Scientific Compatibility System is a big fraud, it is based on the T_shirt Experiment that
only proved:
normally cycling women (not pregnant and not taking contraceptive pills) are (temporarily) attracted by the perspiration scent of clothes used by men with a Major Histocompatibility Complex MHC more dissimilar to theirs,

and not proved:
women attracted by those men for long term mating with commitment.

To my best knowledge there is no Scientifc Paper peer reviewed by Academics from different Universities (public scrutiny of findings) showing Basisnote’s matching algorithm can match prospective partners who will have more stable and satisfying relationships than couples matched by chance, astrological destiny, personal preferences, searching on one’s own, or other technique as the control group.

Moreover, they will never have any Scientifc Paper because, DNA for dating purposes offers to maximize genetic DISSIMILARIY of the Major Histocompatibility Complex, MHC, between prospective partners; and that is WRONG!!!

There is a milestone paper “Does the contraceptive pill alter mate choice in humans?” written by Drs. Alvergne & Lummaa (2010) that is a big punch to “matching methods based on the T_shirt Experiment”

Alvergne & Lummaa clearly say:
“Furthermore, whereas normally cycling women express a preference for MHC (major histocompatibility complex) dissimilarity in mates, pill users prefer odours of MHC-SIMILAR men, indicating that pill use might eliminate adaptive preferences for genetic dissimilarity.”
…………….
“Recently, Roberts et al. attempted to eliminate these potential confounds by adopting a within-subject design in which women’s mate preferences were assessed before and after they began taking the pill. Women starting the pill showed a significant preference shift towards MHC SIMILARITY compared with three months before the pill was taken, a shift that was not observed in the control group of normally cycling women. This study replicates previous evidence based on between-subject comparisons, and suggests that contraceptive pill use disrupts disassortative mate preferences in women, leading to a preference for individuals who are SIMILAR to relatives.”
………………

Only short-term but not long-term partner preferences tend to vary with the menstrual cycle [Gangestad & Thornhill 2008 paper: "Human oestrus"]

Papers showing the newest & freshest Research in Theories of Romantic Relationships Development outline: compatibility is all about a high level on personality similarity between prospective mates for long term mating with commitment.

IF personality is build by 70% of genetics and 30% of environment influences, genetic similarity matters (for long term mating with commitment) AND NOT to maximize genetic dissimilarity as matching methods based on the T_shirt Experiment offer.

When is someone going to do a peer-reviewed research paper on astrological matching?

If a person’s life begins at conception and not at the moment of birth, calculating the astrological destiny from the moment of birth is a hoax!

Astrological destiny was invented in ancient times when there were
no Genetics, no Psychology.

With astrological destiny, fraternal (dizygotic) twins like a boy and a girl should have nearly the same destiny, but fraternal (dizygotic) twins have different genetics and personality.
A pregnant woman can select when her baby is born, natural birth or cesarean.
A pregnant woman can travel to another place some weeks before giving birth, she can change the location, e.g. from North America to South America (different stars in the sky)

What will happen if in a near future a colony could live in Moon or Mars? Astrology can not calculate its predictions.

All astrological destiny and astrological matching is a big hoax.

Fernando, you really do need a lesson in acceptance of views that differ from your own myopic worldview. It’s sad, really.
