Online Dating Industry Links 8-02-09

Posting this from New Mexico on day number two of my cross-country road trip.

Carl Bialik, The Numbers Guy at the Wall Street Journal mentions this blog while writing about a topic we cover here from time to time, How Many Marriages Started Online?

World Dating Partners update.

Picture 6.pngAutocomplete is an incredibly useful feature when it comes to making it easier for people to complete certain tasks such as creating an account. I expect to see a button that says “Would you like us to complete this form with your personal information?” Speeddate fills out some of my credit card billing information automatically, bad form.

A woman wanted to go on a date at Speeddate.com just now. I forgot I had the browser tab still open and there was this alert sounds which was driving me crazy trying to figure out where it was coming from. Turns out I have to pay $24.99 to send her a single email. You have got to be kidding me.

This is goofy, Love Genie is available on the iTunes app store.

I doubt that $24.99 buys you only ONE email. Also: she’s a bot.

$24.99 ???? This is crazy, let’s say that this amount for a monthly subscription can be ok, but for a single message? I am just curious how many users pay them this amount daily.
