eHarmony Creates the Perfect Man

by David Evans on July 9, 2009   in Marketing, Profiles

Picture 5.png My friend sent me this eHarmony email. Click the thumbnail to read the profile text. She is savvy to the whole online dating thing and this is what she said: “I think this is a composite guy that’s just so appealing to someone like me that I couldn’t resist shelling out to meet him….shady!” What do you think?

Ha! That could be anyone really. I’m surprised eHarmony would allow such a generic profile to exist.

Is there any proof that this person was just “date-bait” or is it just speculation at this point?

Speculation, which is why I asked what people thought.

I’ve been hearing more and more horror stories lately about sites practices in general. It’s actually an exciting time to start my business.

I believe this might be mistake. I doubt that eHarmony will ever allow this kind of thing. Sometimes people do have profile without picture but I think this could be an error.

No dating site would ever send out an email based on a fake user? Please.

I quite agree with Matt Savage, this profile says nothing personal or unique about who that person could have been, sounds like how most people that guy’s age would think and see themselves (I am in that age group too :)

That is what all eharmony emails look like. They give you a generic description of your match based on the questions they answered. Then when you log in to see their profile you see the profile they wrote in their own words.
