The Rise Of An Underground Facebook Market

by David Evans on May 5, 2009   in Profiles, Startups, Traffic

AllFacebook says that there is a growing market for purchasing Facebook Profiles. This reminds me of people who contact me looking for dating profiles. Pre-populating a dating site with fake profiles is a really bad idea. Short of acquiring a dating site and merging it’s population with a new site, companies like White Label Dating are the only way to go if you want to launch a dating site with a populated community on day one.

Dave, this is an interesting insight. I have been approached many times and asked to sell my profiles. What do they achieve by pre-populating with useless profiles I wonder… The way I see it, they would be getting 10x as many emails from people complaining that they are seeing their photos on sites they have never been to. Any suggestions as to other alternatives to white label dating?!

Thanks for the mention David. Our business is growing at a rapid rate with a huge number of partners signing up each week. We’re pleased to have just been announced the second largest paid dating company in the UK after the effective merger of Meetic and Match by ComScore and we hope to continue to go from strength to strength.

Pretty soon you’ll need to start breaking out your top five sites. Nobody has any idea of WLD is 10,000 sites each with 1,000 members, or if you have a few winners like Spark Networks has JDate and the rest are middling performers. Inquiring minds want to know.

#1, I’ve been working with SuccessfulMatch, which has many sites that can be white labeled, although they are focused on experienced online dating entrepreneurs as opposed to WLD, which is super-simple to set up.

I would have recommended Bonefish but they seem to have fallen off the face of the earth, not a good sign.

I hear conflicting reports about World Dating Partners. Some say they are up for sale, others say they are doing well, difficult to know what the real deal it at this time.

There are others as well, but too small to show up on the radar for the most part.

Are you mad? White label dating is ONLY fake profiles from sites such as Facebook.

John you’re wrong, it’s only partially fake/adult profiles, just like any another dating site in general, but that was an good thread to read. Lots of anonymous people complaining about white label dating. Why should we trust anonymous posters? Nothing to back up claims, where’s the proof. Doesn’t anyone know how to take a screenshot?
