DownToEarth continues to drive impressive amounts of traffic, 250k visitors, 700k visits in the last month. Amazing. The site isn’t very sticky though, about three visits per month and 12 pageviews per visit according to Compete. Something tells me people create profile then bounce. OkCupid gets about 54 pages per visit and PlentyofFish gets 29. Do you see where I’m going with this?
DTE is as bare-bones as you can get when it comes to profiles. I know zilch about the other person except their basic stats. Maybe it’s just me, but with all of the dating I’m doing on free sites because of the recession (ahem), I’m really not in the mood to take a lot of chances with people if I don’t know more about them from the get-go.

I went in to delete my profile this morning and there isn’t such option!!! You can deactivate the profile, but not delete it (why?) I wrote them, but still no answer. I’ve been a member for about a month now. Visited the site 3 times all together and reported 74 scammers, got a reply from a DTE admin only once and received 14 flirts from ppl who were all subsequently deleted. Not sure how they are doing 250K visitors a month. It is maybe from all the advertising they have. These may be potential 1 visit hits from the ads they run on AdSense. I wonder how much would that cost them?!
If the traffic statistics above are any indication, the dating arena is trending upwords. Plenty of room for new start-ups to grow. Really if one site can get 700K in a month then it should not be hard to get 10K in one month. The competition is tough but success is achievable.
