Compatible Partners Time Warp

by David Evans on March 28, 2009 in Uncategorized

I signed up for Compatible Partners, the upcoming eHarmony same-sex dating site, several months ago. Today I received an email confirming my registration. I clicked the link and was directed to thank you for confirming your registration. That’s it. There is no website yet, it’s still under construction. This lack of attention to detail does not exactly bode well for the service.

I am curious if eHarmony is going to develop a new compatibility test. That would take a long time to develop, certainly longer than several months. Eharmony itself says they have no data on same-sex relationships.

eHarmony has just launched in the UK so I signed up to see what it was like but couldn’t get past the first profile stage as it kept telling me I hadn’t completed that page when I had. There was no way of contacting admin to tell them about the glitch [only general faq pages] and for weeks I kept getting reminders to complete my profile. I wonder how may people in the Uk haven’t been able to sign up…

Hi Julia – I’ve heard this a lot, I wonder how much effort they’ve gone to in order to customise the site for the UK audience?

Local imagery, local language and tone of voice?

It’s certainly interesting to follow eHarmony in the UK – I expected them to do a bit launch in December/January but we haven’t seen much from them yet. The effective merger of Match and DatingDirect in the UK will create a strong entity to take on eHarmony, I wonder if eHarmony have enough money in their budget to gain market share here?

    Hi Ross,
They are doing a big Facebook campaign [almost every other ad is eHarmony] but I’m not sure if the whole concept would work in the UK. As far as I understand the site works on the basis of psychology testing, and put people together on the basis of that rather than allowing people to choose for themselves. I don’t think that concept would go down well in the UK….
