Today I turn 40. I woke up, ran 6 miles and spent the morning fielding phone calls from friends, family and clients, not to mention my Facebook wall is on fire. I spent the last night of my 30′s on a fantastic date and am having a small dinner with a few close friends tonight. In a few weeks I’m throwing a larger bash where I can invite a ton of people, too much going on right now to deal with that.
Over the years I’ve belonged to 50+ dating sites. The only one that wished me a happy birthday this year was OkCupid. How every large dating site in the world could miss an opportunity to (re)connect with a member on such an important day boggles my mind. Dating site marketing people, wake up!

You are so right Dave, It seems that webmasters are so busy with SEO these days, they tend to neglect the most important asset they have… Thier Members ! something as simple as a Happy Birthday e-mail is an awsome oppurtunitty to connect with your members, make them feel good and keep them coming back to your site. And hopefully bring some freinds. I have 2 great sites one focusing on Free Online Dating and Chat and the other focusing on Southern Singles And I would never pass up such an opputunitty. Infact I have installed a little script to not only send an email, but feature the member on the homepage, with a link for other members to send a happy birthday message. the member loves it, and it’s a great ice breaker !
