UK firm Phones 4u and the 3G Dating Agency are bundling mobile phones with a dating service. I love that the 3G Dating Agency is utilizing QR barcodes and 3G phones with video capabilities. In five years we will all be using QR codes, I bet marketers and American Idol will embrace the technology and make it a household standard.
As for 3G video phones, Nokia is the major player in the US, their phones stream video live to the web at places like Qik.com. My hacked iPhone does it, barely. We are so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to mobile phones, it makes me sad.
I can’t imagine what video calls from mobile phones between people meeting for the first time are going to be like. Woome has posted some of their member videochats on the homepage and they are truly painful to sit through.

Video calls are an amazing way for people who want to date to meet for the first time because they’re incredibly safe and with a 3G Video Phone they’re incredibly easy to do…. just dial the number and select “video call” instead of “voice call”.
You really summed up the big problem with Video Calls that has led to some adoption problems. The reason that you cringed at the sight of other peoples video calls becomes obvious once you make your own video calls. They are the most personal way to meet without physically meeting and because a video mobile lets you arrange video calls anywhere at anytime.
