My Morning On Match.com

by David Evans on July 3, 2008 in Dating Site Features,Marketing

I was greeted with these error messages while browsing Match this morning. The ongoing downtime at Match is unacceptable for a service I’m paying for. This isn’t an overloaded social network with a million features, it’s a dating site, albeit a large one but they have had years to get this working properly, it’s not like the site is growing much lately here in the US.

Is it the fault of Microsoft products or the IT department not pulling it’s weight?

I wish they would redirect some of their enormous marketing budget into doing a better job fighting spam and fixing the site. Match is almost as broken as Twitter these days.

Never in my life have I seen an error message telling me to reload the previous page. “Keep trying, if you stand on your left leg and wave your hands in the air maybe it will work.”

Given that they have had bugs affecting search for YEARS, what are the odds that they will care much if the site goes down a little here and a little there?

OTOH, I managed to sleuth the identity and email of their lead programmer, who has nitty-gritty details of the bugs in his inbox.

I wonder how much longer these bugs will be there now?
