Social Networking Virtual Conference

by David Evans on June 26, 2008 in Dating Events

Yesterday I spent some time in the virtual pre-event for the social networking conference coming up in San Francisco July 10-11, 2008.

PringoNetworks hosted the pre-event Chat. Userplane powered the chat room. Before, during and after the last virtual event in February I sent several emails to Pringo and made a ton off recommendations on how to improve the functionality of the system.

Basically nothing has changed since then. No chat transcript, klunky messaging system and an awkward interface. I expect the absolute pinnacle of social networking systems, considering the event. Not to bad-mouth Pringo, and there are always behind-the-scenes issues to deal with, but the pre-event networking has considerable room for improvement. I never saw more than 5 people chatting in the live chat at any time.

I asked participants to share their blog links:

I really enjoyed the last virtual conference and had far less issues then this one. This one was not that organized, and I kept getting booted every 2 minutes in the chat rooms. I also thought it would have been better.

The communication was better then before.
Some new and old faces there but no one was chatting and no one was networking.
2 minutes later, I sing out.
