Markus points out an article about OKCupid in INC Magazine. This is a great overview of free dating and how difficult it is to compete with subscription sites like Match.com that pay $50 for each new subscriber. Founder and CEO Sam Yagan is quite open with how much he spends on marketing for OKCupid.

Link love from blogs and new outlets have been good to Yagan. A search for the term “online dating” on Google shows OKCupid as the third listing.

This is a must-read article for people in the online dating industry.

At page 1 the article says:
“Another looming threat: People were turning to social networking sites Facebook and MySpace as de facto dating services.”

    “de facto dating services”
That symptom clearly indicates daters are becoming fully tired of actual dating sites, they are waiting for innovations, but they ….. will definitively come from new discoveries on Theories of Romantic Relationships Development.
When these new discoveries could be proved,
the Online Dating Industry will receive a Big One Earthquake that will kill most of actual dating sites.
