can you tell me why I would recieve an email randomly in my email to some other woman for "someone has a crush on you"? I do not subsrcibe to these sites nor have an interest and it bothers me.

Please help. I am thinking maybe its because I dont log off and other users log on in my screen so maybe there is a cross over to spam and virus?

Even better than the reverse match is the mutual match. In a sense, that's the ultimate search. But it's based on just clerical criteria and therefore has only limited usefulness. Reverse matches are just that, they match what profilee, if you will, wants, but not necessarily what the profiler wants.

And I think it's ironic that you're asking why Match can't create a custom search for you. They have have trivial to fix, but seriously consequential bugs in their search algorithms for YEARS. Do they even have programmers on payroll?

I don't think its because of bureaucracy, etc. I think it's just because they are hiring the wrong people or not hiring anyone at all.

And to top it off, consider the dating applications in FaceBook, like Zoosk, that have essentially no search to speak of. It's like their hiring people straight out of romper room.

And don't forget to check out another dating sites of sorts - www.DontDateHimGirl.com. It's not a dating site, but it's great nonetheless.

"It would be great if I could change the search criteria in real time with slider controls. As I move the slider towards brunette, the blondes disappear from the search results. Modulating the age range would expand and contract the amount of results right in front of me. No need to keep going back to the search page and clumsily changing parameters."

This is something I've been working on as well. It's a familiar pattern (Amazon Diamond Search), but works well for dating, especially on a range, i.e. "only show me people in this allowable 'fitness' level", not to put too fine a point on it.

Hello David.

A quick answer to your question (why aren’t dating sites doing this kind of stuff?) is because cupidsxfactors.com is not BETA yet, I told you months ago (Miami I-Date 2008) that I was in the process of an proprietary search engine that was going to do all that and much more for the dating community, not only that but others proprietary features (for a complete package) will be included in the site to for a total of 5 proprietary key elements (including the X-Factors matchmaking system), is one of the reason’s why I have move the BETA launch several times now (patent pending #’s).

I’m 300% with you in this quote “I still think that better functionality can win over new members more effectively than more marketing dollars” and especially on this one “Dating sites should know more about you than any other web property”

I hope to see you in the S.F. conference so we can talk more about it.

Amen, brother!

The smartest search function on a big site is Match.com's Reverse Match. Why EVERY site doesn't have this is a mystery to me.

And I couldn't agree more that learning from member usage patterns is not only possible but imperative.

It's much more expensive to market to new subscribers than it is to help the current ones succeed.

Keep up the great work.

We designed the site to avoid filling in forms and sending emails! And to hear a general conversation before narrowing down to the people you would like to talk to. Thanks for your comment, though.
