For backcountry snowshoeing, hiking, etc it&#039;s fantastic idea. Only problem is that those locations have spotty phone coverage.

It&#039;s like a digital version of signing in at a trail head.

Finally, the service should be free, charging that much is going to limit adoption rates. Get REI to sponsor the site.</description>

A majority of these do not have a nearby support system to rely on when they go missing.  They do not have close friends, relatives or neighbors thye can trust nearby.  Also, who wants even their closest friends to know their every move?  Privacy and security is what SafeCheckIn.com is all about.</description>
