Viibee.com

Viibee’s main idea is that above all online dating should be fun. We try to keep away from happy couple pictures and success stories because we believe that this only exercises pressure upon the members. Moreover, we took some care to give the site a visually appealing look, because we believe this adds to the fun factor (there are too many ill-designed dating sites already). We also think that putting as much data into a dating website and having either a big algorithm to find matches or have the user fill out lengthy forms does not mirror the way dating works in the real world. It seems to be what computer scientists think about dating. In our view people are very able to recognize potential matches in the blink of an eye (they are trained by evolution). Hence, just recording and watching some videos is the best way to find a match. Re our business model: there are free accounts (called FreeBee) and paid-for accounts (Goldee) that give the members additional features like seeing who put them on his Favourites list (i.e. it is a Flickr-like or Xing-like model). Currently, we focus on the European market. viibee is now available in English and German with more languages to follow soon. We are based in Basel, Switzerland.

Hans Erik wrote: Hello- I work for a new social networking site that could truly revolutionize online dating! It’s called Next2Friends.

Next2Friends allows people to add a profile into a phone and then be notified about people of similar interests. The free phone software already has 12,500 registered users signed up and is being given a beta launch. It can scan up to nine mobiles at any moment and uses bluetooth to exchange profiles with other Next2Friends users who match the required settings. Next2Friends’ founders say it will be used in clubs, where people can set details like “single and interested in music and find out more about the people they have met.

Sayheyhey

I signed up for a new video-dating site called Sayheyhey, which encourages people to upload personal videos. At first I thought it was a spin on Speeddate.com, but it looks like all you can do is browse videos.

SayHeyHey is the first free all video online dating site that’s bringing a bit of reality and personality and reality into online dating. It’s also a place where you can find the most entertaining video content –young singles can vent about their single life, showcase their personalities, share dating tips and tricks and connect with others. SayHeyHey’s tag-based searches allow you to find people of similar interests without the use of long (often useless) questionnaires. SayHeyHey also plans to announce a brand new pay-for-placement model which will allow people to “advertise themselvesâ€? (not just broadcast themselves) by paying to be placed more prominently on the site, and improve their chances of landing a date.

The only thing that stood out was that they give you the option to specify your age or select from ranges such as “Around 35.” Other than that, not much to say, it’s just like all the other video video-wall sites where you browse a gallery of videos. Watching single people talking-head videos is painful for the most part. Where are the writers for video profiles?

David, thanks for mentioning us. There’s a little typo in the first line: it’s “viibee.com”

With Web 2.0 boom so many new entrants have entered that confuses me that how they all will get mainstream audience. Some are indeed interesting like Speeddate.com or another site like image based matching like http://www.Ourlikes.com which is also adding some spice to the whole industry.

Uploading video clips for other to view sounds like an interesting niche. What will be really interesting is to see the variance of quality. On a positive note, it will help people get a better idea of a persons personality traits. I found http://www.datingsitedirect.com to have some specialized dating sites.
